COVID-19 Resources for the Hospitality Community

Modified: May 29, 2020

As a pillar in the hospitality and tourism community, the Detroit Metro Convention and Visitors Bureau (DMCVB), recognizes our role and responsibility in doing our part to ensure the health and safety of our partners, clients and visitors. We do not take this pandemic lightly and are working proactively to support our destination during these difficult times. The DMCVB is in close communication with local and state governments to obtain and share factual information with our members and clients.

At this time, we are following the recommendations of our Governor and the President to work with incoming event producers on implementing safety precautions and reviewing how to proceed. In the meantime, we will continue to monitor the status on COVID-19 and share what we know with the hospitality community. Please see the following information for tips, updates and further information on how to keep yourself and others safe during this time.

Steps to Prevent Illness

There is currently no vaccine to prevent coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
The best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to this virus.

The virus is thought to spread mainly from person-to-person.

  • Between people who are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet).
  • Through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes.

These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs.

The best prevention for respiratory illnesses, in general, are to practice good hand hygiene (wash hands often with soap and water), stay home when ill and to get recommended vaccinations.
